Cortina: site of the 1956 winter Olympics, setting for several Bond films and Stallone’s “cliff-hanger” is an elegant blend of modern luxury and traditional architecture. It is undeniably the most picturesque area of the Dolomites, and the ideal launch point for a Dolomite Discovery.  Cortina is also a shoppers paradise with many fashionable boutiques interspersed with welcoming coffee shops displaying mouthwatering goodies and local specialties.

Corvara, in the Val Badia, is the epicentre of the famous Sella Ronda circuit is ski in ski out with lifts fanning out in all directions. Being so centrally situated, this resort is the ideal platform for a Dolomite Discovery as each day offers so many choices of which lift or direction to take.  German, Italian and Ladino (the local language) are spoken in this valley and many involved in the tourist industry have a good knowledge of English.

The Dolomite mountainsides are dotted with cosy restaurants and bars and so that every ski day may also become a culinary adventure!

Spend 10 nights and 9 ski days in the fabulous Super Dolomite ski area. All the advantages of a village hopping ski safari without the constant changing of hotels.

With 3 nights in CORTINA d’AMPEZZO followed by 7 nights in CORVARA every day is a new adventure taking you to a different corner of the fantastic Super Dolomite 450 plus ski lift system.

Your host and guide will be a multilingual ski instructor/mountain guide who will not only show you the best runs, but will introduce you to the culture, history and  exciting specialties of the areas

The Super Dolomite ski pass included in the Discovery cost is valid for over 450 lifts and over 1200km of groomed runs.

Every day the group will set out with the guides for a new adventure. A sample weekly ski itinerary may be as follows:

Day 1: Cortina: Falloria/Cristallo.
The two main skiing zones of Cortina are separated by the town so we begin our adventure by exploring the Falloria/Cristallo side with its spectacular views across the valley towards the peaks of the Tofane.

Day 2:  Cortina: The Tofane
Offering world class skiing and some of the most spectacular scenery in the Dolomites. We ski the challenging runs of the Women’s World Cup the famous  Forcella Rossa and the winding wooded trail of the Tofanina.

Day 3: Cortina – Corvara
After leaving your luggage packed ready to be transferred to Corvara, you will ski the 5 Torri,  third area of Cortina and then continue via the spectacular 12km Lagazuoi run towards the Val Badia  arriving in time for welcome drinks in Corvara

Day 4: Corvara to Pedraces and Sass de la Crusc
Skiing from Corvara to Pedraces and Sass de la Crusc (Holy Cross Mountain). A short horse sleigh ride to a farm house for lunch returning home via La Villa and the World Cup Gran Risa run.

Day 5: The Sella Ronda
A day long trip around the large Sella mass,(termed  by one guest as the Yulara of the Dolomites!

Day 6:  Val Gardena
with the World Cup Downhill of Selva, famous for its camel humps the downfall of many a top racer . During the day the group will ski the well know resorts of Colfosco, Selva, Santa Cristina and Ortisei.

Day 7: La Marmolada Glacier and Civetta. 
At 3424m the Marmolada is the highest lifted point in the Dolomites. Views this day are spectacular and the runs seem to last forever.

Day 8: Plan de Corones
Plan de Corones is on the northern edge of the Badia Valley. This large rounded mountain offers long open  runs down all sides with magnificent views to Austria, only a few kilometres to the north.

Day 9: Free day.
After learning all the ropes from your guides you are now free to do your own thing, revisiting your favourite slope or valley.

Note: The itinerary is subject to weather/snow conditions. The organizers reserve the right to make adjustments necessary.
Ability level required for a Discovery is intermediate to advanced as well as a moderate fitness level.
