Mountain Adventures and Mountain Magic Travel have created weekly modules that may be booked separately or combined with others to suit your own schedule.

Spend 7 nights & 6 ski days skiing in the shadow of the massive mountains of the Mt Blanc region and country hop between France and Switzerland in the spectacular area just south of Geneva.

Accommodation is in a luxurious 3 star hotel in Samöens, (pronounced Samwaang) the only ski village to be listed in the 88 strong French Heritage List. Your host and guide will be multilingual qualified ski instructors/mountain guides who will show you the best on and off piste runs, and will introduce you to the gastronomical specialties and traditional wines of this beautiful area.

Every day the group will set out with the guides for a new adventure. A sample weekly itinerary may be as follows:

Day 1 Sun : Le Grand Massif - Samöens  - Les Carroz
The cable car from Samöens takes us up to the plateau at 1600m from where we will ski Samöens, Morillon and Les Carroz.  After a day finding the ski legs it is time to relax in the heated pool, sauna or jacuzzi back at the hotel, a perfect introduction the ski week.

Day 2 Mon : Portes du Soleil  - Les Gets, Morzine
This is the biggest internationally interlinked ski area in Europe. Beginning in Les Gets we ski the Mt Chery and the wooded slopes over the  to Morzine and then back via the Ranfolly and the Chamossiere to cross country slopes above Samöens where with the distant spectacle of Mt Blanc dominating the horizon, we take the ski bus back to our hotel.

Day 3 Tue : Samöens – Flaine - Sixt
An early visit to the fascinating winter market followed by more of the spectacular views towards Mt Blanc we again we take the cable car from Samöens to ski in the direction of the purpose built resort of Flaine. The finale for the day is the long and picturesque 14km run aptly named,  Les Cascades, via the Lac de Gers to Sixt where we take the ski bus back to Samöens in time for a strole through the historical centre of the village.

Day 4 Wed: Portes du Soleil - Avoriaz - Chambery
More of the huge Portes du Soleil area skiing the world cup runs of Avoriaz, then in to Switzerland to Champery via the scenic Paradis ski run and back again into France. The lift may be in France but the ski run may be in Switzerland!

Day 5: Chamonix Mt Blanc
No trip to the Haute Savoie would be complete without a visit to Chamonix to experiencing the grandeur of the famous Vallée Blanche glacier and Mt Blanc, the highest mountain in western Europe. Weather permitting we take the cable car to the restaurant at the top of the Aiguille du Midi at 3842metres. ($$ supplement) After admiring the spectacular views over the glacier we follow our expert local guide down the 22km of open runs and winding paths of the glacier. ($$ optional skiing* )

Day 6:  Grand Massif - Samöens
A free day, back to familiar territory and yet more long runs! Revisit the familiar runs of the Grand Massif or simply browse the little boutiques of the historical village of Samöens. The town square dates back to 12th Century and the cosy surrounding bars are great for an après ski aperitif and a great setting for the weekly market.

Note: The itinerary is subject to weather/snow conditions. The organizers reserve the right to make adjustments necessary.
Ability level required for a Discovery is intermediate to advanced as well as a moderate fitness level.
